What is a Pet Lifestyle Advisor?

I am characterized best as a person who is an author, chef, educator, and entrepreneur. As a person committed to the better things in life with your pets, I teach others how to live a luxurious life for them and their pets, without the extravagant costs. When this position requires the development of new products, I envision and create them. If you are one of the many elite who share their lives with pets, allow me to be  the muse to guide you in the direction of sophisticated, urbane design.

Wendy Nan Rees

Wendy Nan Rees has been involved in the pet industry for over 25 years. Her career began when she founded Lip Smackers, Inc., a company dedicated to providing healthy all-natural treats to consumers concerned about their pets’ well-being. The Lip Smackers bakery still operates today out of The Pet Care Company located in Hermosa Beach, CA.

Wendy now comes full circle with her new book The Natural Pet Food Cookbook: Healthful Recipes for Dogs and Cats. It is a collection of fifty recipes which rely on natural ingredients like whole grains, fresh vegetables, fruits, and humanely raised meats. The rash of pet food recalls during 2007 has caused many pet owners to move away from commercial foot to ensure the safety of their loved ones. However, it is important for these owners to learn the proper way to cook for dogs and cats, instead of just giving them a portion of their own meals. Wendy covers all of that in her book, which also includes information about holistic pet care.

While creating her healthy products, Wendy created so many different recipes she was inspired to write her first book. No Barking at the Table: Canine Recipes Most Begged For was written to give dog owners some fresh and creative recipes on how to feed their best friends. The book was so well-received that No Barking at the Table 2 and No Catnapping in the Kitchen were not far behind.

Moving in a different direction, Wendy then published The Name Game, a collection of over 100 celebrity essays along with over 1,000 suggestions of pet names. This fun book offers pet owners an entertaining and unique take on how and why people name their pets. A percentage of the proceeds from The Name Game goes directly to PAWS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with HIV/AIDS to care for their pets.

Wendy's success as an author and dog-treat creator led to numerous television appearances. She was the "Pet Lifestyle Advisor" on Animal Planet's Petsburgh, USA and has also appeared on The Home Shopping Network.  Wendy also wrote a monthly column called "In the Kitchen with Wendy " for Your Pet Magazine.

Not one to rest on her success, Wendy focused on her entrepreneurial side, helping to create Cedar Green ®, a line of all-natural odor eliminators created with pet owners in mind. The signature product is Freshen Vac; a heat-activated natural odor eliminator that can be used in vacuum cleaners, dog beds, any home air vent and in cars.

In 2000 Wendy was diagnosed with breast cancer, which forced her to take a break from her career to focus all her energy on her recovery. Today, Wendy is happy to say she is cancer-free and working on her worldwide internet radio show called Wendy's Animal Talk. You can hear Wendy every Tuesday at 1PM PST at www.healthylife.net .

Wendy is also proud to announce her new line of Natural Pet Products. Wendy is now hard at work planning her next book, Your Pets Around the World, due out in late 2008. For this new book Wendy will be taking both her radio show and her dog Little Man around the world for six weeks of research on the road. You will be able to follow Wendy and Little Man around the world via VOD (video on demand) and her radio show, while her VOD will start to encourage a pre-published audience for Wendy and Little Man. It will be posted on her web site, on a travel web site and on youtube.com.

WNR also writes two weekly pet tips for the web site www.lovetoknow.com where providing DOG advice  and CAT advice .

You can use many words to describe Wendy Nan Rees - author, cancer survivor, inventor, and entrepreneur. And while each of these terms is accurate, they are only part of a truly inspiring and creative woman, who uses her talents to innovate an industry that she has loved since she was a child—the world of pets. Wendy lives in Los Angeles with her dogs Senator, Cappy and Little Man

Ruthie Bently

Ruthie Bently's
paying career in the pet industry began in 1976, in Evanston, Illinois where she worked for Elsinger's Pet Shop, and she brings over 22 years of experience to the WNR Company. But her real pet-related career started when she was just three years old and brought home a nest of baby rabbits, crammed into her jacket pockets. Needless to say, she was hooked, and the rest is history. She has managed three different pet shops in the Chicago area, and was working for a custom aquarium manufacturer, when she got an job offer from her brother in Minnesota.

Ruthie has always been very interested in canine and feline nutrition, especially when she found out that most veterinarians, unless they are specializing in nutrition, don't get much training for it in vet school. (In fact, they usually have no more than ten hours of nutrition classes.) This bothered her, so she started learning about canine and feline nutrition on her own with help from the Chicagoland veterinary community. She became so well-versed that the local veterinarians were sending their clients to Ruthie for her assistance with pet nutrition. Ruthie currently holds a Hills Pet Nutrition Consultant Certificate , and is the Owner /Consultant of Bently's Beasties . She is also a second degree Reiki practitioner.

She lives on a farm in Minnesota with her boyfriend Steve; an American Staffordshire Terrier named Skye, and numerous cats, geese, ducks and chickens.
